ABOUT ME
You know, if you care about that stuff!
2008 was the year I embarked on the remarkable journey into the world of writing. One fateful night, a particular scene seized my imagination, refusing to release its grip. I lay there, gazing at the ceiling, consumed by questions. Who was the person? Why were they there? What was in their briefcase? Why were they killed? And so on. As the clock struck two in the morning, unable to resist the call of creativity any longer, I abandoned my restless bed and found myself at the kitchen table. There, I poured my thoughts onto paper, filling page after page with notes, weaving together a tapestry of plotlines, characters, and unexpected twists. It was an electrifying moment, the birth of my first novel, “Armour,” and the genesis of my unyielding passion for writing.
“Armour” marked the beginning of a transformative three-year journey in my writing odyssey. During this time, I navigated the labyrinth of storytelling, honing not only my craft but also discovering my unique voice. Since completing “Armour,” my creative momentum has been unwavering. In the wake of my debut, I penned five full-length novels, a couple of captivating novellas, sprinkled liberally with engaging short stories, and even dabbled in the art of flash fiction. My writing desk is a perpetual hub of activity.
Over the years, I’ve weathered my fair share of rejection and absorbed a wealth of feedback from numerous agents and publishers. With each manuscript they declined, I’d find solace in the belief that the next one held the key to success. However, it was through the invaluable guidance of fellow self-published indie authors that I finally mustered the courage to take the plunge into the world of independent publishing. I launched two debut books in 2020, a short story (Identity) and a young adult/steampunk-ish/mystery/thriller (Machines). You can find out more about these stories in the books section.
I have degrees in Software Development and Infrastructure Engineering (but don’t use any of it). When I’m not writing in Brisbane, I’m facilitating workshops, MCing conferences, and keynote speaking all over Australia. Please feel free to connect with me on the Facebook and LinkedIn socials, or drop a line on my email. You can always leave a review wherever you find my work. Always keen to hear what people think; good, bad and ugly.
Until then, keep those minds twisted
